Sports- 49'ers Totally Dismantle Dallas
Every National Football League team goes to their preseason training camps with a positive view of the upcoming season. Every team has a good idea of where their weaknesses and strengths are and how the season will probably line up for them. Some teams have nothing but the Super Bowl in sight. Some teams realistically look at their schedules and look to get into the NFL playoffs. Once in the playoffs, many things can happen that can help them win playoff games. That usually means some key injuries have occurred to very good teams and that levels the NFL field somewhat. The Dallas Cowboys better hope San Francisco and Philadelphia have 10 or 12 season ending injuries to their starters.
The Cowboys started their season the same way as the usually do. Owner and impotent General Manager, Jerry Jones sees multiple ways the Cowboys can get to the Super Bowl. When donkeys fly. The San Francisco 49'ers showed the entire NFL they are the cream of the crop this year and the Cowboys are just another good NFL team. Unless the 49'ers and Eagles have extensive injuries to key players, the Cowboys have no hope of getting close enough to a Super Bowl to smell it. The Cowboys were dismantled by an extremely dominant San Francisco team and a team that is hungry for the Super Bowl.
Dallas's offensive line was manhandled. The Cowboys' defensive line was totally neutralized. Cowboy wide receivers could not break away from the San Francisco secondary. The Dallas defensive secondary was picked apart at will. Brock Purdy, quarterback for San Francisco, played at a Most Valuable Player level. Dak Prescott, quarterback for Dallas, continued to throw into double and triple coverage and had no idea what the 49'ers were doing on defense. Dallas' kicking game was very good. That's it.
Jerry Jones as General Manager will keep his string of failed seasons intact. Although the Cowboys can beat the worse teams in the league, they couldn't beat Arizona and now can't compete with San Francisco. Dallas will continue to get what they have now as long as Jerry Jones is the General Manager. Dak Prescott is no better today than the day he graduated from college. He still can't read a defense. The new Dallas offense is designed to eliminate Dak from having to make decisions. It also depends on wide receivers getting open and that didn't happen against San Francisco. The great Dallas offensive line is now less than what it was and has problems against the better teams.
I think the Cowboys need to be reconfigured. First, a new general manager. Second, a new quarterback. Third, a concentration on the offensive line again as it was done ten years ago. Fourth, better linebackers who can also rush the passer. Fifth, faster wide receivers. If the Cowboys hope to compete with San Francisco, Philadelphia and Arizona in the future. These items must be addressed, or it will continue to be one and done in the playoffs, if that.
