Still No Speaker of the House of Representatives
October 22, 2023- Sunday
We are twenty days into not having a Speaker of the House of Representatives in the United States government and absolutely no progress has been made. We have a huge military conflict escalating in the Middle East with Israel getting prepared to launch a huge ground invasion into Gaza. Ukraine is still fighting for its life against the eight-hundred-pound gorilla, Russia. The Republicans in the House of Representatives still can't find a single person they can all agree would be a good Speaker of the House.
We still have the eight to twelve renegade Republicans who are instigating the chaos and now that group is working to stay out of the media. They seem to be relishing this government shutdown which is exactly what it is. Kevin McCarthy is out because of these small group. Steve Scalise would be able to do the job, but he had twenty or so people who refused to vote for him. Jim Jordan couldn't engender enough support to get any of the idiot twelve to vote for him. The Republicans in the House of Representatives are a mess.
The Republicans have several very competent people running for the nomination of President of the United States. The mess starts with former President Donald Trump. He has several legal battles in several different locations. He calls people derogatory names. He wanted to suspend the Constitution of the United States so he could continue to be president even though he had lost the election to Joe Biden. He holds a huge lead over the other competitors for the nomination. He will lose a general election. Again. Why? Many people can't stand Trump. They hate him. According to more than one poll, all of the other Republican nominees for President easily defeat Joe Biden for President. Trump doesn't win.
So the Republicans are sending a message loud and clear to the rest of the United States. We have no idea what we're doing. We're going to nominate a man who has major legal issues who probably will lose in the general election. We have a divided party in the House of Representatives and can't decide on a leader. The Republicans are a party in disarray and disparate priorities. Now, tell me. Who would vote for a group of people like this?
