The Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

March 30, 2024- Saturday   At 1:24 a.m. Tuesday morning, a large cargo ship in the Port of Baltimore lost all power to its engines. The cargo ship was headed out to sea and could no longer steer itself. The cargo ship was headed for one of the large support standards used to keep the Francis Scott Key Bridge suspended above the bay. The cargo ship captain was able to call port authorities and they were able to stop all car traffic on the bridge. They were not able to notify the road work crew on the bridge working to make road repairs .   The cargo ship hit the standard supporting the bridge and the entire bridge collapsed. Thousands of tons of concrete and steel ended up blocking the Port of Baltimore. It was now closed. Far worse than the bridge collapsing, seven hard working road workers died in the collapse. Two workmen survived. Two of the workers are still trapped dead below the bridge wreckage and authorities are working to find a way to get to them. I cannot ...

Vice Presidential Election

March 19, 2024- Tuesday   We know who we will be voting for President of the United States in the General Election this fall. President Joe Biden will be the nominee for the Democratic Party and former President Donald Trump will be the nominee for the Republican Party. As much as some polls show the American public is not excited about the two nominees, the American public will choose between these two men .   There is another decision that will be made at the same time a decision is made for president. The American public will be voting for a vice-president at the same time and that leads us to one of the most important decisions Donald Trump is going to make as the nominee for president. Who will be Trump’s vice-presidential nominee?   For many of us, this presidential election is really a vice-presidential election. The person Donald Trump selects could very possibly be the next President of the United States if Trump wins the general election. This is no diffe...

Let's Change Statute of Limitations

March 15, 2024- Friday   The legal system in the United States found that it is important for most laws to have specific statutes of limitations to provide levels of protection for American citizens. If a citizen is contemplating filing a legal charge against another person, there are times when they do not consider whether the statute of limitations has expired on their issue or not. Citizens are held to these limitations, but it appears there are now district attorneys and politicians are finding that statute of limitations are suggestions in one person’s instance.   Allen Bragg, the District Attorney in New York City worked to have the statute of limitations changed in New York to allow them to charge former President Donald Trump for sexual assault of a woman over thirty years ago. The statute of limitations was changed and as part of the change, the change in the statute of limitations was given an expiration date of one year. At the end of the year, the l...
