Code of Valor by Lynette Eason

I am an avid reader. I like reading a variety of genres, but I definitely prefer to read mystery novels or action/adventure novels. I like all of John Grisham’s books. I enjoy all the books I’ve read by David Baldacci. Joel Rosenberg is a great writer. I also have decided I don’t want to only read books by male novelists so I have purposefully worked to find some female authors of novels I can enjoy. I have read several books by Mary Higgins Clark, and I really like her approach to a story. I also recently read a book by Lis Wiehl which was also very entertaining, so I have been able to broaden my scope of authors which has opened a whole new group of books to me.
Lynette Eason is a new author for me. She released a book in 2019 called “Code of Valor”. This is a story about a slightly flawed woman who is smart and tracked by multiple killers because of what she has access to and what she is capable of doing. She develops a relationship with a policeman who becomes integral in her survival.
Here’s what I liked about this book. Eason did a particularly good job of developing the two primary characters and gradually allowing those characters to develop a good relationship with each other. She integrated some situations into her story that will make you cringe which is good because I think a good author will allow you to have emotions about a story, even if the story is not real. Eason allow a Christian perspective to be in the book and include Christian emotions and views as part of the characters involved and it not being a story that was “preachy.” That’s not to say the story did not give you a good Christian perspective in a troubling situation and even teach a lesson in the end. This was all done while being very true to the story and the characters she developed. The basics of this story were very good even without the Christian perspectives. I like the story, the character development, the language, and the ending. I would encourage anyone to read this book and get a good idea of an author who has done a very good job in storytelling.
