Concert By Kristin Chenoweth
April 11, 2024-
My son gave my wife, my daughter and I tickets to see Kristin Chenoweth in concert this past Sunday night in Dallas, Texas at the Winspear Opera House. I have always liked Ms. Chenoweth and enjoyed her talent. Yes, she sings very well, but she is an overall performer, so I was excited to actually be able to see her in person. I had no idea.
Kristin Chenoweth was much better than I even imagined. Her voice is a treasure and such a wonderful gift to be able to hear her sing. Her voice is so clear and so distinct. Her stage presence is so good, and her personality is so alive for an audience.
My daughter asked me a question after the concert was finished. What song did you like the most? I thought for a short time and said, “You Were Always on My Mind.” This song has been considered a country song, but the way Ms. Chenoweth fashioned the song to fit her distinct talents made it a very memorable song for me. I know when I hear that song in the future, I will always think back to the night I heard Kristin Chenowith in Dallas.
Yes, there were other outstanding songs. I really enjoyed her ever popular, “Popular” from the Broadway musical “Wicked”. What I really liked about that is how she gave us that song full of life even after having sung that song who knows how many times. The cherry on the top of that song though was how she followed it with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” That was such a great touch.
Ms. Chenoweth also had a couple of outstanding vocalists who accompanied her in this concert. We had no idea what we were in store for. Melinda Dolittle and Diana DeGarmo each were highlighted during the concert and received huge ovations from the audience because they so deserved the applause. These two “American Idol” alumni were both so good and strong in their presentations when they were featured and when they sang together. Both women could hold their own shows and Ms. Chenoweth was comfortable with allowing them to have their own spotlight in the concert and we are all better because of this. This also gave Ms. Chenoweth the opportunity to add a little levity to the occasion when she said under her breath into the microphone after one of their songs, “Note to self; never hire singers better than you are.” The crowd loved it.
My recommendation to anyone is please see Kristen Chenoweth in concert if she is ever anywhere near you. She will give you a show that is so outstanding and you may be like me and spend the next two days after the concert listening to her songs and really enjoying the talent God gave her and how she so developed her talent. This was a concert I know I will not only never forget but I will enjoy it each time I hear one of her songs.
