  June 27, 2024- There is a presidential debate tonight. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will be involved in a very structured debate so voters will be able to hear directly from each candidate and know what those two men think is best for the United States. There is a lot at stake in the upcoming election but there is one key thing that is being discussed but not in its entirety.   Both presidential candidates are old. Biden is 80 years old. Trump is 76 years old. Biden is constantly being watched for his next senior moment. Trump has shown he doesn’t like to be scripted so there’s a lot to watch between the two old guys. June 19, 2024 - This is a sad week for evangelical Christians. It is interesting that the sad news comes from the Dallas, Texas area. Two widely respected Christian leaders have been removed from their positions as pastors due to personal life mistakes. Mistakes pastors should never make. Mistakes a Christian should never make.   Tony Evans was pastor at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. This is a church he started in his home many years ago. Two weeks ago, he revealed to the church leadership he had committed a mistake, a sin, several years ago. He agreed to a period of “restoration” under the authority of other Christian leaders. The church nor Tony Evans gave any other specific information about what his indiscretion was and said they would not be discussing it any further.   This past week we hear that Robert Morris, pastor of Gateway Church based in Southlake, Texas abused a 12-year-old girl starting in 1981 and this crime lasted for four years. June 16, 2024- Saturday The Boston Celtics lead the Dallas Mavericks three games to one in the National Basketball Association’s championship series. None of the games have been close games. In the first three games, Boston dominated in all areas of the game as the season long statistics would say they would. Then came the elimination game four.   Dallas showed up ready to play and Boston did not. Contrary to all the season-long statistics, Dallas dominated in all areas of the game. The Mavericks won by 38 points and felt good about their performance. They weren’t embarrassed. They were in the previous three games. Now comes Game 5.   Dallas travels to Boston on Monday in another elimination game. Can Dallas repeat Game Four? I don’t think so.   June 13, 2024-   Many times, life becomes much stranger than fiction. On the day a Delaware jury found Hunter Biden guilty of falsifying records so he could buy a gun, Hunter’s Dad had a speech he was giving on gun control and gun violence. The timing of this was something the Democrats could have adjusted to avoid this conflicting subject, but they went forward with the schedule. President Biden has said he would not pardon his son if he was found guilty but, as one commentator mentioned, President Biden never said he would commute Hunter Biden’s sentence. For many who heard President Biden say justice had been served in the Donald Trump New York state trial, he must admit justice has been served in his son’s case.   I’m not real sure how many people really care whether Hunter Biden was found innocent or guilty in this trial. June 3, 2024- Monday- The Rule of Law   One last word about the conviction of former President Trump of 34 counts of financial crimes. President Biden came out Friday and announced the rule of law had proven to be intact. Trump was given the opportunity to face charges and was ruled guilty by twelve jurors from New York City. President Biden also told us if anyone said the trial was rigged was undermining the legal system. Wow! So much has changed for President Biden, and I was very glad to hear it.   Based on what President Biden said, the ruling of the Supreme Court that abortion laws should be set by the states is now the rule of law.
