Trump, Tariffs and Outcomes

Donald Trump has been playing tariff wars with every country in the world and the stock markets have exploded.  Many people have lost thousands of dollars from their retirement accounts. Some have gained a small portion of those losses back since Trump decided to give a 90 day pause to the tariffs but huge damage has been done.

Trump had a very good motive to do this but his decision to go at it with a machete rather than a scalpel caused havoc and dismay.  He’s so arrogant he won’t listen to people who advise otherwise because he is so smarter than the rest of us so on with the damage.  

All of these poorly considered decisions have an expiration date. He must get all of this settled, reversed and looking good by January 2026 or the Republicans are going to see an election bloodbath, the likes the Republicans have never seen before.  

Both the House of Representatives and the Senate will go Democratic, and we will see another two years of gridlock and court cases.  It is all so unnecessary, and Trump’s legacy will be one of strife and division and not making America Great Again.  He can totally control this and create a very positive situation for this country, but his arrogance is his greatest disability. His arrogant ambition will not only bring down his legacy, but he will take some very good people down with him. Good people who would have been able to continue to move this country forward based on solid principles.

January 2026.  The clock is ticking.

Dying in Chicago Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

September 6, 2025- Saturday I haven’t had much to say lately about the news and that's probably good. The constant news cycle has worn me out. I still listen to the news so I will know what is happening, but I have cut out much of the news because of all the negativity that gets repeated several times per hour. We now have word that seven people were killed in Chicago over the Labor Day weekend. Over thirty people were shot or injured in the shootings. The weekly shootings and killing in Chicago, Illinois has been constant for the last several years. It is debatable as to who all is doing the shooting, but the fact is, the shooting continues on a weekly basis in Chicago and nothing the political and law enforcement leaders do in Chicago changes anything. September 2025  Topic of the Day- Life. Like Architecture, is a ver. If designed well, it works. It’s beautiful, and it needs no directions. It needs maintenance. How does one effectively maintain well in life? Some people are very goal oriented and seem to be obsessed with self-improvement. I think a lot of maintaining our lives is actually improving ourselves as we go through life. Maintenance in life is improving and moving forward, mostly through education.   One concept I was not taught in school is the concept of lifelong learning. To give ourselves, we need to continue to learn. There are those who choose to simply exist. These people are selfish. They are selfish because they are depriving others around them of all they can be by not maintaining themselves.
