Choosing Paths and Avoiding Paths

J uly 19, 2025- Saturday-   T opic of the Day: Dirt roads and autobahns. Remember some roads you took and why. And some you avoided and why.   The roads we take in life versus the roads we don’t take. As a teenager and young adult, I was not prepared to make lifelong decisions. I had no mentor. I had no guidance. My parents were disengaged. I was on my own. My life choice for a profession came down to music education or nursing. God equip ped me to be a nurse better than a music professional and thankfully I listened and followed that path rather than music. I was still able to follow my enjoyment of music, but it wasn’t all encompassing. Next, I was faced with an interpersonal relationship decision and again, God directed me onto the right path and decided to give myself to my wife now of 44 years. Other path choices were primarily profession related. I left inpatient nursing and went to procedural nursing which allowed me some great opportunities. I didn’t always make t...

Truth-

J uly 10, 2025- Thursday   Statement- Truth is like a jalapeno. The closer to the root the hotter it gets.   This statement can be true, and it can also be a statement designed simply to get attention. I would say truth in a given situation is very simple . The heat associated with truth is usually found in either the cover-up of the truth or attempts to justify the truth. We have recently learned of political campaign cover-ups in 2016. Those people give us information they want us to know and purposely leave out coge nt parts of the subject. Our news networks are especially good at that. It seems many people are afraid of the truth because the truth does not fit their personal desires. We see that in people who criticize Christianity because Christianity does not endorse their decisions in life. Truth can be hard to accept but that...

Learning to Pivot

July 7, 2025- Monday   Thought for the Day- Learn to pivot: Get relative with the inevitable.   This question has everything to do with change. It is said change is inevitable. That is true. I spent forty-seven years in health care. I do not remember when change was either being forced on me or I was the one forcing change. It is not change one needs to be concerned. It is how one accepts and adapts to change. One of the most significant change challenges I have ever faced has been retirement. Moving from excessive activity one day to very limited activity the next has been hard. The challenge now is mental engagement and mental acuity. Working for optimum health. Maintaining value. Ever-increasing age makes these three things more important and more difficult. Ever advancing age means continual adaption . It leaves us all with one significant decision to make. Does one get creative and work to add quality to life or does one quit? In the famous words of Winston...
