"You Be You"
September 12, 2025- Friday
On Wednesday of this week, we witnessed the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. He was gunned down while speaking before several hundred people at Utah Valley University. Charlie had millions of followers and that is what caused fear in the hearts of those who disagreed with Charlie’s ideas.
It is interesting the person who went to extremes to kill someone whose ideas they opposed, immediately tucked tail and ran. Why did he run? If he believed what he was doing was necessary, why run? Why didn’t this person stand tall and proud and take responsibility for their actions and what they believed?
This person ran because they knew what they had done was wrong. For some unknown reason they believe they will escape with having committed a terrible wrong. The liberals will want to point to the gun being the problem, not the person behind the gun. The liberals will want to point to the need for mental health funding when they will not allow people who have anti-social behavior to be involuntarily committed for treatment.
Then there are the amoral proponents like Jen Psaki, MSNBC commentator, who says prayer means nothing. We did not have these problems when the vast majority of people attended church. We did not have these problems until the majority of people stopped attending church and were working to follow Christian principles. The experts say all the crime and violence continues to increase. Church attendance and those professing to be Christians continue to decrease.
People need guardrails on their lives to control the proliferation of bad behavior or aberrant behavior and belief in Jesus Christ provides those guardrails. Without these guardrails, we have school shootings, public stabbings and assassinations. We also have situations like men wanting to pretend they are women. “You be you” is a phrase used that is designed to give another person informal permission to exhibit aberrant behavior. “You” needs guardrails. Many times, these people need to be taught self-control rather than how to be like the opposite sex. People need to be less tolerant of aberrant behavior.
This behavior really needs to stop but it will not stop. Aberrant behavior will continue to be celebrated, and abnormal behavior will continue to be pushed to be normal. The violence will continue because people are not being taught self-control, and they are not being taught what is right and what is wrong. Why? Because we are more interested in “You being you.”
