The State of the Disunion

 February 25, 2026- Wednesday

President Donald Trump completed his State of the Union Address last night. Whether the speech was any good or not depends on your political and social philosophy. This was the longest State of the Union speech ever. We were warned this was going to be a long speech.

As we were told before the speech, the Democrats were going to sit through the speech because of their philosophy to immediately oppose anything Trump is for. For those Democrats who did attend, they mostly followed through on their actions. A couple of the socialist members of the Democratic Party began shouting at the President as he criticized the idea of sanctuary cities. One was warning an expletive included badge concerning Immigration Customs Enforcement.

Illegal aliens who the Democrats allowed into the country so they could give them the right to vote, have killed too many Americans. People may not like the process we have for allowing people from other countries to come into America, but we do have a legal process that should be followed until something better comes along. This is now a safety issue.

The affordability issue the Democrats are pounding now is an issue of their own making. President Joe Biden and the Democratic majority passed a one trillion-dollar spending bill that had no overall purposes of bolstering the U.S. economy. A trillion dollars spent on pet projects such as giving millions of dollars to an organization run by Stacy Abrams and one other person that never produced one meeting, conference or product. It also included some expensive park improvements in Nancy Pelosi’s neighborhood, and rewarding Democratic donors with returns on their investment. Inflation skyrocketed to double digits that year, and products and services exploded upward in price also. The Democrats created the problem they are now blaming the Republicans for not totally fixing.

Those two issues are unarguable. These are known facts. Other things mentioned in the speech ride along political and social philosophies. The animosity on both sides has ramped up today after the speech. As much as we might want all the angst to subside, it will not. This is an election year and the party who can convince people their philosophy is the best will be the party who will assume a mandate and control the political and economic variables for two more years while one-half of the population will disagree.

Whether we like it or not, we are on a two-year power cycle. We deserve better than this.
