What Month is This?

February 28, 2026- Saturday

February has been national black history month. June is homosexual month. March is Irish American month. It is not well known because Irish people are generally white. May is Asian American month. May is also Jewish American month, but you won’t see much in the media about that. It is also Zombie Awareness Month. September is National Hispanic Heritage Month.

There are many groups who have gotten together and mounted campaigns to celebrate and promote their differences and their separate cultures. There is not much attention, if any, devoted to American nationalism. There is constant emphasis placed on differences among the people in American and very little time spent promoting America. That usually happens only on July the 4th.

Through the year, so much attention is given to differences at the expense of nationalism. As is so much in the American society, people like to celebrate extremes. There is little to no moderation and very little time spent on equality. This society and maybe I should say the American media, is focused on minorities and those of extreme behavior. If you don’t agree, watch the evening newscasts. The local and national media have become social change agents rather than news organizations.

What I would like to see is a return to the day when news was reported, and social causes were given their own special interest programs on Sunday mornings. If I want to watch a minority program or one promoting mental neuroses, I can choose to watch as opposed to tuning in to see what the major events of the day are, not the opening of a vegan cupcake store story. Americanhave a hard time finding a happy medium in anything. Maybe we should have a Happy Medium Month.
