Kristi Noem, A Star Gone Astray
March 6, 2026- Friday
I’m disappointed in Kristi Noem. Here is a woman who was pervasively known as a good governor. She pitched South Dakota tourism and pro-business climate. She is attractive and telegenic, and that appears to be part of what brought her down. She basically peed in her own Cheerios.
As Secretary of Homeland Security, she was also responsible for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She went after illegal aliens allowed in the country under the Biden Administration with a vengeance and made sure, she got a lot of camera time. She mounted a twenty-eight-million-dollar advertising campaign for ICE, and she was front and center in all the ads.
Then came the House Subcommittee Hearing. When questioned about whether President Donald Trump had approved her ad campaign for ICE, she said yes. This definitely appeared to be something the Republicans and contrived in order to expose Noem’s internal response. They knew what she was probably going to say and that would be what gave the Republicans the sacrificial lamb they needed to calm the ICE storm.
Next was the question about whether she was having an affair with a member of her team. She did not say no.
We now know Noem had begun to think she was all that and a bag of chips. She was not cooperating well with other departments. She had lavishly wasted taxpayer money. Being married, she is having an affair with a married man. Kristi Noem is now an envoy in a new department President Trump is setting up. Reassigned, not fired. Fired.
Kristi Noem had her sights set on being the first female President of the United States. Those aspirations are now gone down the drain, probably like her marriage. This was her choice. In this day and age of intense media scrutiny, poor leadership and poor personal decisions are going to see the light of day. A once rising star has dramatically fallen and the Democrats now have a scalp. They want more, of course.
Leaders must be better.
