Vile Language

March 10, 2026- Tuesday

As part of my Bible study this morning, I read Proverbs 10:32. It says, “The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.” I have been considering the language people use in their daily endeavors, and I see this one verse has great applicability.

It is increasingly difficult to find television programs or movie to watch because of the vile language increasingly being used. I recently sent an email to the Federal Communications Commission or FCC. I emailed my complaint over the use of a word I feel is blasphemous to God. This word has recently been allowed on network television which has never been the case before. If the primary figure of another religion was used in a similar fashion, there would be a tremendous outcry to how inappropriate it would be. With the word denigrating God of Christianity, it is too acceptable to too many.

I think this is being allowed as a continuing effort to desensitize society to vile language. It is also an action designed to disparage Christianity.

I also believe this is part of the denegation of society as a whole. The vile language adds angst and anxiety to any situation. The expletives so many people use will inflame situations many times. Our society needs to turn down the anger intensity, but the excessive use of expletives prevents situations from cooling.

We are now finding politicians and others in the public eye using vile language to trump another person’s soundbite to get the most attention. These individuals know the language they are using are not appropriate and are incendiary in their origin, but they do it because they want to be the person remembered for a thought or a position and now expletives are deemed acceptable.

This is another glaring sign of the erosion of a society once focused on decency and integrity. It is now increasing harsh and divisive. We can easily look at Proverbs 10: 32 and see whether we are contributing to the growing problems and decline of our society by the use of vile language or not.
