The Republican Stupid Eight

 October 4, 2023- Wednesday 

Just about the time you think you’ve seen all of the political stupidity that could possibly happen in one lifetime, a new level of stupidity is reached. Eight Republicans and the Democrats voted to remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House of the United States House of Representatives. These Stupid Eight decided they didn’t have enough control over McCarthy and McCarthy was working to avoid a government shutdown with Democratic help. They wanted a more conservative budget, so they voted to eliminate the Speaker of the House.

 

The Stupid Eight have sent a broad message to voters in the United States. These pro-Trump, Make America Great Again Republicans, have shown the voting public the Republicans are a group who not only can’t work with Democrats, they can’t work with themselves. They are a divided organization.  They have shown by their actions, the Democrats are a united force. That’s a big deal.

 

This country has a great many people who are wanting to see higher levels of unity among its peoples. Now we have an important political group that has flipped the middle finger to its own group and to the public. These are such arrogant individuals, the only thing they want is their way, control and the rest of the public can simply stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.

 

The Stupid Eight will now get the publicity they so desperately want for the next week or two. The Stupid Eight will get a new Speaker of the House they think they can control and will do whatever they want them to do. They need to enjoy it for the next year. At that point, they will probably lose their majority in the House of Representatives again and none of what they are so desperately pushing today will see the light of the day. The Democrats will only push very liberal legislation and the Stupid Eight will have a hard time getting anyone’s attention, even on Fox News.


The Stupid Eight have laid a major egg politically for a very short-term gain. They are snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with this disruption of logic. It’s simply self-defeating arrogance and stupidity. Here’s to hoping the people who elected the Stupid Eight to their positions see the error of their ways and remove them from office in the fall of 2024.

Dying in Chicago Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

September 6, 2025- Saturday I haven’t had much to say lately about the news and that's probably good. The constant news cycle has worn me out. I still listen to the news so I will know what is happening, but I have cut out much of the news because of all the negativity that gets repeated several times per hour. We now have word that seven people were killed in Chicago over the Labor Day weekend. Over thirty people were shot or injured in the shootings. The weekly shootings and killing in Chicago, Illinois has been constant for the last several years. It is debatable as to who all is doing the shooting, but the fact is, the shooting continues on a weekly basis in Chicago and nothing the political and law enforcement leaders do in Chicago changes anything. September 2025  Topic of the Day- Life. Like Architecture, is a ver. If designed well, it works. It’s beautiful, and it needs no directions. It needs maintenance. How does one effectively maintain well in life? Some people are very goal oriented and seem to be obsessed with self-improvement. I think a lot of maintaining our lives is actually improving ourselves as we go through life. Maintenance in life is improving and moving forward, mostly through education.   One concept I was not taught in school is the concept of lifelong learning.
