Trump vs. Zelenskyy- No Winners

The bad side of Donald Trump raised its ugly head this past Friday.  In an Oval Office press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelenskyy, the two presidents along with Vice President J.D. Vance, got into an argument.  Zelenskyy was here to sign an agreement with the U.S., but he started talking about security assurances.  Trump and Vance were not interested in discussing this and they both went after Zelenskyy.  That is where the bully in Donald Trump came out as he repeatedly talked over Zelenskyy and got much louder than the Ukrainian President.  Instead of doing the right thing and politely ending the press conference and continuing the argument out of the view of the media which will definitely side with Zelenskyy, Trump was rude and bullied Zelenskyy.  

I think Zelenskyy did not fully realize who he was dealing with and his command of the English language left him at a big disadvantage in an augment with Trump.  I also think this was a situation where Trump was only focused on making a business deal.  The war between Ukraine and Russia was secondary last Friday although Trump continually said he wanted to stop the bullets.  He should have been putting pressure on Putin if that was his priority rather than bullying Zelenskyy. Trump doesn’t always understand the difference between business and politics. That’s the distinctive downside of President Donald Trump.

Dying in Chicago Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

September 6, 2025- Saturday I haven’t had much to say lately about the news and that's probably good. The constant news cycle has worn me out. I still listen to the news so I will know what is happening, but I have cut out much of the news because of all the negativity that gets repeated several times per hour. We now have word that seven people were killed in Chicago over the Labor Day weekend. Over thirty people were shot or injured in the shootings. The weekly shootings and killing in Chicago, Illinois has been constant for the last several years. It is debatable as to who all is doing the shooting, but the fact is, the shooting continues on a weekly basis in Chicago and nothing the political and law enforcement leaders do in Chicago changes anything. September 2025  Topic of the Day- Life. Like Architecture, is a ver. If designed well, it works. It’s beautiful, and it needs no directions. It needs maintenance. How does one effectively maintain well in life? Some people are very goal oriented and seem to be obsessed with self-improvement. I think a lot of maintaining our lives is actually improving ourselves as we go through life. Maintenance in life is improving and moving forward, mostly through education.   One concept I was not taught in school is the concept of lifelong learning.
