What Impresses You?
Topic of the Day- Less Impressed, more involved. The sooner we become less impressed with our life, our accomplishments, our career, our relationships, the prospects in front of us, the sooner we become less impressed and more involved with these things, the sooner we get better at them. We must be more than just happy to be here. What are you overly impressed with?
I have been guarded about becoming arrogant about anything I have done, any talents I have or anything I have been capable of doing. Part of that had to do with never being complimented by my parents and frequently being told what I did wrong. Part of it also had to do with being put off by people who did like to brag and make sure people were aware of their accomplishments. I also seemed to be aware how I could have done a better job even though I did do well at a project. So, true to this topic, I worked to improve in a lot of things but other subjects I let fall by the wayside. I have always been aware of the fact there is so much I do not know and that will always be the case.
I am overly impressed with other’s intelligence. There are certain topics that scream intelligence. Medicine, engineering, biochemistry. The intelligence quotient required for many subjects is high and I know I fall short of those needed levels. People in the high IQ fields seem to demand my admiration. What I do not take into consideration is those same individuals do not know a lot of things. Those people are no different than me. The big difference in a lot of people is they do not realize everything they do not know. What they do know overshadows or overwhelms everything they do not know. They can become better when they accept there are areas where they are dumb and then begin to work to decrease the number of dumb subjects they have. Then respectable humility will grow and add value to an already valuable person.
