The Kennedy (Oops!) Trump Center

I voted for Donald Trump in the last election so you can either blame me for this issue or thank me for it. The United States is so divided there are enough on both sides. I felt like I had to vote for Trump because whoever was running the country during the previous four years was doing a horrible job. 

One of Trump's goals in serving in his second term was to remove as much of the ingrained liberal thought that existed in all of the departments of the government that had become enshrined in their positions from years earlier. As President of the United States and the ruling Republican Party he has the right to do this.

When I first heard President Trump had removed the people from the board of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, I thought that was probably a good thing. Sort of like having Supreme Court justices for life, this board was a swinging door of liberalism. Having a change in thought would probably be a good thing. 

Now this group has decided to change the name of the living memorial by adding Donald Trump's name to the organization and the building itself. Was this really necessary? No, it was not. Was this a move that feeds the monster that is Donald Trump's ego? It most definitely is. Trump supposedly said he did not know this was going to happen. You can choose to believe him or not, but this change was not necessary, and I can totally understand why this would make many people unhappy.

Several presidents have been honored with monuments in Washington D.C., and the Kennedy Center was just that for President John F. Kennedy. It was a different monument from all of the others in that it actually had an ongoing purpose of providing an exquisite venue for the performing arts and provided a certain level of prestige for those asked to perform there.

There is something about adding Trump's name to this memorial I have not heard anyone talk about. What are the odds there will be a Donald Trump Memorial built when he dies? How about zero. Because of Trump's divisive nature, it will require a ton of private dollars from a lot of people to be able to buy a memorial for Trump. The Democrats will do everything within their power to find every roadblock possible to prevent a Trump Memorial from ever being built. So, those new board members of the Kennedy Center have made the name change to the Trump/ Kennedy Center. 

How long do you think it will take the next Democratic president to rip Trump's name from the Kennedy Center and replace the entire board of the organization? Ten minutes? 15 minutes? 

This was a change that just was not necessary.
