Is Global Warming and Climate Change New?
June 1, 2026, Monday
Topic of the Day: You look outside: Ah, it is snowing? But look closer. Those are not snowflakes fall from the sky. What is it snowing at your house?
Global Warming. The sky is actually falling. The essence of this question is for a person to assume whatever is falling on their house is an awful result of how we live our lives.
I've been hearing this is going to happen since the 1970's because we have not planted enough trees on Earth Day. (I would rather call it Arbor Day.) I remember when I was in the fourth grade, my teacher told us where we were sitting in class was once a great ocean and before that, the area was totally covered with ice. If I am to believe what my fourth-grade teacher was saying, then we have been experiencing climate change long before the Industrial Revolution took place. Fact is we have been undergoing climate change since Noah and the Great Flood.
Should we spend tax dollars on all of the changes some people think are necessary? There may be some areas where tax dollars could be used to advantage research but that is where the tax support should end. History tells us the technology will quickly be converted to business initiatives and there are many who would really like to get rich off of the tax dollar support of their corporatization of new technology. Let them spend their own money to advance their own businesses.
We can do what we can to keep the earth in good shape. This means finding new forms of renewable energy. It means look for new ways to decrease waste. It includes better ways to recycle materials. We want to find ways to minimize air pollution from whatever the source may be. The reality is this, climate change will continue and there is nothing we can do about it. It is our job to do the best we can to minimize the negative impact the way we live our lives has on the environment.
